Texas Independence Day
One hundred seventy-three years ago, on March 2, 1836, the Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Convention of 1836 which met at Washington-on-the-Brazos, thus declaring Texas as a free and independent Republic. Happy Birthday, Texas!

Yay, Texas! I see you have Republic of Texas (maybe pre-Republic) ancestors. Me, too - the Brinlees and McKinneys. They settled first in Red River County - I wonder if they knew one another, since there weren't that many of them in those days.
